Ohio State Leads Country In Faculty Honored by Leading Science Organization
COLUMBUS , Ohio – For the third straight year, Ohio State University leads the country in the number of faculty named as “fellows” of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Gathering on the GRID-Black Hole Debate Kicks off Series!
The first of OCTS' workshop series, The Quantum Theory of Black Holes, was an overwhelming success. More than forty local participants interacted with participants from five states and three countires. Nanotech creates big session
A small subject generated a big turnout here Wednesday for the opening of Ohio's first statewide summit on nanotechnology. The event, which concludes today, drew 470 participants to the day-long series of technical presentations and panels at the Hope Hotel and Conference Center, organizers said. SCIENCE OF THE SMALL: Nanotechnology could be just what ailing economy needs
More than 400 educators, scientists and business and industry leaders have been meeting in Dayton this week for the first Ohio Nanotechnology Summit. This discussion needed to happen. Nanotechnology is a broad term that refers to the manipulation of materials on a molecular level and the creation of microscopic machines. The technology could revolutionize science, medicine and industry. Virtual Solution to the Carbon Cost of Conferences
A recent article in Nature magazine notes that big conferences are good for science. But because many researchers fly in, these events are also bad for the environment. Access Grid, the multi-cast technology utilized by OCTS, can be used to redress the balance. OCTS funded by Ohio Board of Regents
The Ohio board of regents will support a cooperative program of undergraduate teaching using access grid technology and Ohio's Third Frontier Network. Currently work on this project is underway involving the physics departments at several universities. |
